Meet Our
"Belle
and Beau 2008"
Charlene (Coates) and Adam
Varley
The Bride and Groom
Charlene grew up in the small town of Hant’s Harbour and moved to
St. John’s to attend college at the Marine Institute after
graduating high school. Upon graduating from Marine
Institute in 2000, she began working with Fisheries and Oceans
Canada as a Geographic Information Systems Technician. Adam
grew up in Brampton, Ontario, and after graduating from high
school, he worked with the City of Brampton for two years as an
Animal Care Technician.
On June 25, 2003, Charlene and Adam met while she was visiting
her aunt in Brampton. It was love at first sight! “I still remember
how she looked when I walked through the door or her aunt’s house,”
stated Adam. Fortunately, Charlene’s aunt lived across the street
from Adam’s family so they spent a lot of time getting to know each
other. A few months later, Adam moved to St. John’s with
Charlene and on October 24, 2004 he asked Charlene to marry him.
The following year, Adam attended college in Stephenville for
Firefighting, and the next year he headed for Alberta to work in the
Oilfields. Soon after, a summer 2007 wedding was planned.
The Wedding
August 17th, 2007
On August 17, 2007 at the Bungalow in Bowring Park, Charlene &
Adam exchanged vows at a small intimate ceremony in front of their
families and friends. It was a warm, but overcast summer’s
day, but a great day for pictures! After the ceremony was
over, Charlene and Adam greeted their guests and then went for
pictures at several locations throughout the park. A reception
followed inside the Bungalow with a delicious three course meal
prepared by Red Oak Catering.
Charlene stated, “The first time I saw the inside of the Bungalow
was from the upstairs balcony. My eyes filled up with tears as
my sister and I gazed down over the perfectly set tables with vases
of calla lilies for centerpieces and chairs with coverings tied with
big gold bows. I was honestly speechless. It was the most
beautifully decorated wedding I have ever seen – and it was mine!”
Married Life
For Charlene and Adam, married life is absolutely wonderful –
although Adam spends much of his time working as a Safety Consultant
in Alberta. “It’s definitely tough being away from each other, but
each time Adam arrives home at the end of his shift, we fall deeper
in love,” stated Charlene. “I guess that’s one of the things that
keep our relationship so strong!”

Melissa
(Gullage) and Jim (James III) Ade
The Bride and Groom
Melissa grew up in Paradise and
Jimmy has spent his life in Long Pond. They have been together
since July 2002. Melissa graduated from Queen Elizabeth
Regional High in Foxtrap, and then continued her education
graduating from Keyin College with a Dental Assisting -Level
II Diploma. She currently works at Teletech as a CSR.
Jimmy attended Holy Spirit High in Manuels. He's been driving
trucks and operating heavy equipment since 1998 and is currently
employed with Concrete Products a cement truck operator. When
Melissa came to me for her initial consultation, she had this
infectious, brilliant smile, and her personality was so lively
and fun. It was clearly obvious that she was so in love. I
knew that Jimmy's last name "Ade" sounded so familiar. Melissa
informed me that I had decorated for his sister more than 10
years ago, and for his other brother 6 years ago. Repeat
business is so great, and I couldn't wait to be part of Melissa
and Jimmy's special day.
On June 21, 2005 (the first day
of summer), Jimmy asked Melissa to be his wife. Without
hesitation, she accepted.
5 short months later on Nov 16,
2005 they welcomed JAMES G.P. Ade (IV) into the world. "We
never realized how much a child can complete the equation" they
say. "He is an amazing addition to our perfect existence."

The Wedding
August
18th, 2006
{ Melissa's Mom and Dad's 33rd
Wedding anniversary }
Melissa says, "Our wedding day
was a dream ! The weather was amazing !" Melissa and Jimmy were
married at the Salvation Army in Long Pond in which Jimmy and
his groomsmen walked to the church. How about that??!! Their
reception followed at Riverdale Banquet Hall in Kelligrews. It
was definitely a full house at Riverdale with over 300 guests in
attendance. "It was everything I ever wanted," said Melissa.
Everything, including a little brother or sister to join James
IV nine months later. "The decor and the setting was so festive
and it captured our feelings of the day so perfectly. It was
just like a fairy tale." Their bridal party consisted of 6
attendants on each side, 3 ring bearers and 2 flower girls.
On Married Life
"Married life is AMAZING ! We are
best friends! That makes it all the easier ~~ Everyone should
marry their best friend!"
Melissa and Jimmy are busy
building their dream home on Conways Brook Road in Long Pond,
which is just a "stones throw" from where Jimmy spent his
childhood. The newest addition to the Ade clan is set to arrive
on May 15, 2007. He or she - what will you be ??" James IV is
anxiously awaiting the arrival of his new playmate! And
Melissa...she
can't wait to taste their Yummy wedding cake again when this new
little one gets christened !
Melissa and Jimmy's
captivating photography was done by Crystal Clear
Images. The amazing pictures of the couple at the barn at taken
on Jimmy's parent's property, Louise & James II Ade. As well,
some of the water images were taken at Topsail Beach

Belle Beau 2006
Gillian (Newman) and Peter
Gillian, know as Gill, grew up in Kelligrews, and Peter in
Paradise. They've been together since New Years Eve 1997. They both
graduated from Holy Spirit High School in CBS and later MUN. In August
2004, the love birds moved to Calgary, Alberta and absolutely "love it
there!" Peter is an Oil and Gas Engineer and Gill is a Tax Auditor.
They say, "We're loving life as a couple of "Saltwater Cowboys!" They
have one four-legged child, their dog, Muffy, who is is the apple of
their eyes!
Peter finally popped the question on August 5, 2004 in Red Deer,
Alberta.
The Wedding
Gill says they always wanted a winter wedding, but
never imagined they' would get such a truly amazing, festive fairytale!
The reception was held at Kelligrews Legion, and the
ceremony was held at St. Edward's Church, both located in Kelligrews.
She further says that "planning from out west was not too bad - we had
so many helpful family and friends Newfoundland will always be
"home", so there was no other option for where we would be married!"
On Married Life
Married life is absolutely wonderful. After 8 years
together, you would think not a whole lot changed, but we've both said,
"There's just something about being married!" Our wedding day truly was
a dream come true!
It was the best day of our lives!
The top layer of their wedding cake is safe in Gill's
mom's freezer - awaiting the christening of Baby Whelan #1! (which is
not on the way...yet)
Gill and Peter will return to Newfoundland again this summer for the
wedding of Peter's sister, Dana, which is taking place in August. I
can't wait to see them again when I decorate for Dana's wedding. They
truly are an extraordinary couple and that's why I chose them as our
Belle and Beau 2006. Congratulations guys!!
Here's a few pictures of their day taken by Terry Rice
Photography.
One more thing, you'll never guess what Gill gave Peter
as a wedding gift...a motorcycle!! He was presented with a picture (as
you'll see below) to show him what was waiting for him when he got back
to Alberta.
UPDATE:
Congratulations to Gillian and Peter on the birth of
Little Pete on May 26, 2007. Best wishes to you all.
