Our Wedding

On September 1, 2007, at the Capital Hotel, in front of our family and friends, I had the honour and privilege of marrying the sweetest, most generous, hard working man I've ever known, Rod Coward.  We exchanged our vows in a beautiful civil ceremony performed by Wendy Squires-Ennis.  Despite the rain, we could not have asked for anything more.  We travelled in first class style with Memories Forever Limousines taking us to the Capital, and then after we said "I Do", our bridal party, parents and our photographer jumped on board the Limo Bus for the ride of our lives.  What a fantastic time.  Our Caribbean style wedding theme was evident when we walked into our reception with steel drum music being played by Jane Morgan's Music, and a line up of guests waiting to enter our tropical gazebo tent to sample the delicious chocolate fountain and food provided by Robyn and Pat of Chocolate Inspiration.  Next to the chocolate fountain was a candy display that had something to tempt everyone's palate from the very young to the not so young.  My controversial beautiful wedding cake had quite a few guests wondering if the seashells were real, or were they candy, or just what were they made of and to top it off...is this a real cake?  Of course it was, but it was styrofoam underneath.  The first time I saw that cake at a wedding show, that JoAnn Grant and I were involved in, I knew that was going to be the one.  And it was.  However, I wasn't going to serve styrofoam to my guests, JoAnn had a beautiful display of mini-cupcakes decorated in tropical blue, and pale tangerine icing topped off with white chocolate seashells.  Can you say "Yum?"

I would like to express my sincere thank you to our families, bridal party and friends, for making this the most memorable day of our lives.  Myself, Rod, Chelsea, Celina and Cody are very blessed to have all of your love and support.

To our vendors, we could not have asked for a more professional, friendly and hard working group.  The meal at the Capital was out of this world, and the service was fantastic.  Everyone left with very, full bellies.  LOL.  Mr. Video, himself, Ross Squires from Memories Forever, who did our video and has more wedding tips than Martha Stewart.  My hair...OMG!!!!  I can't thank Karen Duke from Second Glance here in Manuels enough.  It was stunning.  Susan Murphy also from Second Glance transformed me into a swan with her artistic make up style.    Chelsea, Celina, Henrietta and Jackie also had hair and make up done there as well.  Our pictures...well, I believe they say it all and speak for themselves.  Newfoundland Wedding, Kim Goodyear, Jennifer Gillard and Eileen St. John, we more than just a little snap happy.  They captured every detail plus more.  Their artistic pictorial work of our wedding can be viewed at http://www.newfoundlandwedding.com/butler-coward then go to the right hand side of screen where you will see a list ie: the guys, the girls, bonus a, b, c, and click on titles).  These gals are very talented and impressive.  Remember, your pictures and videos last a life time so you want them to truly reflect on your special day.  As mentioned before, Wendy Squires-Ennis, who performed our beautiful custom ceremony, and whom I regard so very highly in this industry, thank you so much girl!!!  My pianist Lori King, who played some beautiful pieces composed by John Tesh, from Entertainment Tonight.  I love his music.  Fantastic job Lori.  JoAnn Grant from All Occasion Cake Design, I can not thank you enough for the cake and the cupcakes.  People will be talking about it for a very long time.  Even when they look at my wedding pictures, they still comment on the cake and the cupcake.  The children really took a liking to the cupcakes and even if they decided to just peel off the paper wrappers...they still enjoyed what they were doing.

Finally, to my husband, Rod.  Who has the patience of an angel, and has put up with me and all the weddings that I have to prepare for. It's not only me doing the work, however, Rod gives me tremendous support behind the scenes of running my business, and assisting as a decorator when duty calls.  Having a full time job, running a successful business, three children and their activities, not to mention numerous at home projects, like our shed (we won't go there) is enough to drive anyone insane.  Guess that's why we're so good together.

Finally, one last thing to say, and it's not a business plug, the team who helped me assemble the decor the morning of our wedding, thank you so much.  We got home at 5 am in the morning of our wedding.  I went to sleep at 6:30, then the alarm went off at 7:30 for me to get up and get ready for hair and makeup.  If I could have done something ...it would have been to hire a decorator, so not only myself, but the rest of my crew, could get their proper rest and enjoy the day.  I was tired, I must admit, however, I was excited to get married and that's what kept me awake.  If I knew there was someone out there who could have did what I wanted without charge a fortune, and I mean a fortune, I would have gladly in a heartbeat had them do it.  But in my opinion, especially where I custom made everything, and I was very particular about everything and how everything was to be done, I figured it was just as easy for me to do it.  I will admit, that I was completely exhausted.  The day went by so fast, and now that it's over and done, we have our memories, our pictures, our video, and would we change a thing for that day?  Not in a heartbeat.

So ladies, let your bridal party assist and don't forget to delegate.  That's what they're there for.  I want each of you to be able to relax on your wedding day and not worry about a thing.  After all...I didn't worry about a thing, after I slugged down some champagne and orange juice at the salon when getting my hair done...LOL...

Remember...Live, love and laugh...and don't forget to rely on your bridesmaids.
